Keeping Up with Berry Material Handling
Our Berry Material Handling team loves the Wichita community! The Wichita branch recently participated in Keepers on Parade, an art project established in 2015 to promote Wichita pride. Our very own Training Manager Curtis Haynes designed “Tribal Spirit,” a 10-foot replica of the larger Keeper of the Plain that honors the suffering and perseverance of Native Americans in the area.

“Tribal Spirit”
Curtis thoughtfully designed every aspect of this unique Keeper. The use of the black, red, yellow, and white colors represents the four seasons, four directions, and the sacred paths of the sun and humans. These colors also symbolize war, honor, and bravery, and the eagle feathers represent the reverence of the eagle as the strongest, bravest, and holiest messenger to the Great Spirit.

The IRS wants you to succeed almost as much as we do.

Section 179 tax savings can help you purchase the high-quality Hyster-Yale® material handling equipment your business needs. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) created Section 179 so that small businesses could have extra income to buy the equipment and technology that would help them grow at a faster rate. Usually, purchasing your dream excavator results in a percentage of its depreciated cost being deducted from your income over a longer time period. However, with Section 179, the full purchase price can be deducted from your gross income

DO YOU QUALIFY?

It really doesn’t take much to qualify for Section 179. Your equipment must be purchased and in use by December 31, 2023, and it must be used for your small business at least 50% of the time. This is a “New to You” tax code, meaning that it can be applied when you purchase either new or used equipment.

HOW MUCH CAN YOU SAVE?

For 2023, the Section 179 deduction limit is $1.16 million with a total equipment spending limit of $2.89 million. Once the spending limit is reached, “the deduction reduces dollar-for-dollar until it disappears.” That means that Section 179 no longer applies if you spend $4.05 million or more on compact equipment

WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS?

This IRS tax code can positively impact your small business’ profitability but less positively affect your federal income tax rates.

“It has the advantage of freeing up cash a lot quicker because you’re not waiting over a period of time to depreciate that asset over years,” says Jeffrey Levine, CPA and Tax Expert for Buckingham Strategic Wealth. “The downside to it, though, is that by taking a significant 179 deduction, you may end up depreciating too much and push yourself into lower brackets.”

It is with great excitement that we announce the impending relocation of our Wichita branch to an expanded, upgraded facility near 47th and Broadway.

After almost 45 years in our current home, we have simply outgrown our space.

Our new building will allow us to keep pace with our current growth as well as continue to expand and improve upon the high level of service our customers expect from Berry Material Handling.

Monday, December 23rd we will open for business in our new home at:

4626 S. PALISADE AVE.
WICHITA, KS 67217

We do not anticipate any interruption in service and will continue to operate at 3769 W. McCormick until end of the day Friday, December 20th.

Our phone, fax, and e-mails remain the same.

We know that none of this would be possible without the support of our customers over the last 45 years. We are sincerely grateful for this opportunity to start the new year (and new decade) in a facility that will help us continue to build on these prosperous partnerships.

Install Team Relocates Hänel Rotomat®

Today we’re taking a look back at the disassembly and re-installation of a Hänel Rotomat®. Last year, our service and install team collaborated to move a customer’s Rotomat® from their facility in New York to a facility in Missouri. No small feat!

Our Hänel certified technician facilitated the disassembly of the internal components then took down the frame with the help of a 2 person crew. The unit was carefully packaged for shipment and reassembled in its new home in Missouri. Watch the process from start to finish:
